Ash Wednesday

On the 26 of February 2020, St Pius X Catholic School, Teachers, Parents, Helpers and Father went to church to celebrate Ash Wednesday.
Ash Wednesday is a day when you have to go to church and have ashes put on your forehead.
It’s not just about that it’s also the day you start your fast for 40 days and 40 nights. Once the bell rang we all lined up near the courts. And then we went to the church.
I had to sit next to Stella and Xavier because Miss Nees-Kairua said. I wanted to sit next to Beata but I sat in the row behind her. We sang songs and then it was the time when we walked up to Father, Mr. Coakley, Mr. Tie and other people to mark the sign of the cross on our foreheads with ashes. It felt like eyeshadow with water, but put on my head! It was cool though.
After having ashes marked oh my head I walked back to my seat. This time I was sitting next to Vanessa and Zenith! Vaneesa was talking to someone so she had to move next to Mrs. Mafu, and Zenith moved next to Stella so I had to sit next to Xavier! (There’s a lot of switching of sitting next to someone). So anyways the next thing that happened was everyone who had holy communion had to go to the front for bread and wine, which was not me!!
After that we sang a song. While we were singing the song the parents marched out of the church. Once the song was finished Mr. Coakley talked to us about the school. After we all had a chat we exited the church. Me and Monique got carried away looking at the photo’s of the youth program.
Monique told me all about it. We got so carried away that our class left us behind. Once we got to class and sat on the floor. Miss said our next activity would be Religious Education.
